The Realize Cedar project is officially complete.
During Spring 2019, This week, construction crews are finishing up irrigation work, street lighting and finishing touches on the Realize Cedar project. The entire project is expected to be completed by June 1.
This week, construction crews are continuing to work on replacing the traffic signals at the Holt/Cedar and Aurelius/Cedar intersections. The Holt/Cedar intersection should be running on the new traffic signals and timings beginning tomorrow (12/19). The new traffic signals for the Aurelius/Cedar intersection are tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of next week (12/28).
Over the next two weeks, construction crews will be working on installing new traffic lights at the Holt/Cedar and Aurelius/Cedar intersections. Crews will also be working on landscaping and amenity installation when the weather allows.
With the exception of some landscaping and minor restoration work in the Spring, the major roadwork associated with the Realize Cedar project will be complete by the end of 2018.
This week, construction crews are working on replacing the poles for the new traffic signals. The new retimed signals should be installed by the end of next week. Crews will also be repainting the Cedar/Dallas intersection, replacing the “Right Turn Only” markings with “Merge Left” markings.
Cedar Street has been open to two-way traffic since last Thursday. Other than intermittent lane closures to finish up amenities, there should be no other major detours. With the exception of some landscaping work that will be completed in the spring, the major roadwork for Realize Cedar should be completed by the end of 2018.
This week, contractors are working on finishing street light installation. Once the street lights are installed, Cedar Street will be open to two-way traffic. This should occur by the end of this week. Though there still may be intermittent lane closures for smaller parts of the project, this should be the last major detour for the project.
The right-hand turn lane at Cedar and Dallas will be removed. Instead, the lane will direct northbound traffic in the right lane to merge with traffic in the left. This change will be made in the coming weeks.
Crews are also working on installing park benches, trash receptacles, bike racks and other amenities.
This week, construction crews are working on finishing pavement markings on Cedar Street. They will also continue to place street lights, work on traffic signals, and install landscaping elements.
It has been decided that Cedar Street will remain one way until the street lights are completed so drivers can see during evening hours. Please keep following the Realize Cedar page for more updates on when the detour will be lifted.
Unfortunately, due to the snow we received yesterday and today, the contractors were unable to finish the final topping layer on the west side of Cedar Street as planned. They will work to complete the final paving on Monday or Tuesday and Cedar Street will be open to two-way traffic as soon as they are complete. Thank you for your patience as we accommodate the changing weather.
This week, construction crews are working on topping the west side of Cedar Street. Cedar Street should be open to two-way traffic beginning on Monday, Nov. 19. Keller Road should be open to traffic by tomorrow.
This week, construction crews are working on topping the east side of Cedar Street and finishing up concrete and street lighting work. Next week, they will top the west side of Cedar Street, officially completing the road work associated with the project.
The project is scheduled to be completed on Dec. 14, weather permitting. Between the end of the Cedar Street topping and Dec. 14, there may be intermittent lane closures as construction crews work on replacing street lights, traffic signals, adding benches, etc.
This week, construction crews are working on fine-grading and paving the Aurelius/Cedar intersection. Weather permitting, the intersection paving and striping should be completed by early next week. Crews will also continue pouring concrete for the new sidewalks around the intersection.
Next week, crews will finish topping the pavement on Cedar Street between the Holt/Cedar and Aurelius/Cedar intersections. During this time, Cedar Street between Holt and Aurelius will be northbound only to allow crews to finish topping the street.
This week, construction crews are working on the Aurelius/Cedar intersection. They are replacing utility lines and storm sewer. Next week, they will grade and pave the road to finish up the intersection within the two-week timeframe. Smaller crews are also finishing up pouring sidewalks and installing landscaping along Cedar Street.
This week, construction crews are working on rebuilding the road on the east side of Cedar Street and at the Keller Road intersection. Once grading is complete this week, paving can begin next week. Contractors are also on site pouring new curbs and sidewalks.

Within the next few weeks paving should begin on the east side of Cedar Street and the Keller Road intersection should be complete.
This Saturday, construction crews will be working on the southwest corner of the Holt Road and Cedar Street intersection. During this time, eastbound traffic on Holt Road will need to be detoured around the construction zone to accommodate the workers. Please use the same detour as Phase 2, as shown below. Motorists will still be able to travel northbound on Cedar. Thank you for your patience.
This week, construction crews finished the water main and will finish installing storm sewer. They will also be continuing to lay down conduit for street lighting and grade the road for repavement. Work on the new curbs of the east side of Cedar Street should also begin within the next few weeks.
